The Process

Our designers will work closely with you to understand your preferences, needs, and budget, ensuring that the final design aligns perfectly with your goals.

From the initial concept to the final construction, our landscape designers will guide you through every step of the process.

They will provide detailed drawings, 3D visualisations, and material recommendations, allowing you to envision the final outcome before any work begins.

Initial consultation Garden requirements

We’ll meet for first time and this is where we really get to know your needs and requirements. This can be done in person or online. Be prepared to answer lots more questions about your ideas, dreams, and lifestyle.

We’ll dig deep to understand how you want to spend time outside, we’ll work out what you need in each of your outdoor spaces.

We’ll help you to prioritise your overflowing wish list and we’ll work out what’s possible on your site within your budget. We’ll take some photos and review your architectural house plans (if you have them), your Google Earth site plan, site considerations and limitations, and the overall scope of work. With our gentle guidance, you’ll imagine the finished landscape design.

The Proposal Concept Plan

We take a thorough approach to concept development for your outdoor space. We begin by conducting a full site analysis, which includes gathering architectural plans and any necessary site survey plans. If needed, we will conduct a site survey to ensure we have a complete understanding of the space.

From there, we develop concept designs that take into account specific details such as traffic flow, sunlight patterns, lighting, irrigation, and any structures that may be required, such as retaining walls.

When we conceptualize, our vision begins to take shape. We created a 2D model after our multiple feedbacks with the client to reflect their vision, personality and lifestyle.

The presentation Ready to build

In our last meeting, we’ll present the final concept plan with 2D and 3D CAD visualisations with conceptual elevations, including video fly throughs.

Then things get really exciting – it’s time to start construction.

We believe that the choice of materials is a crucial part of the design process. Working with our suppliers and designers we ensure that the materials we choose perfectly suit the taste, needs, and budget of our clients. Our goal is to provide personalised and tailored solutions that reflect your unique style and personality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is involved in the landscape design process?

Our landscape design process is a collaborative journey. It begins with an initial consultation to understand your vision, needs, and budget. We then conduct a thorough site analysis and develop concept designs. These are presented to you with detailed drawings, 3D visualisations, and material recommendations. We refine the design based on your feedback until you are completely happy before moving on to the construction phase.

How much does landscape design cost?

The cost of landscape design varies depending on the scope and complexity of the project. We offer a range of packages to best suit your needs ranging from $1000-$4500. We also offer a paid consultation service where we provide a detailed proposal and report with professional recommendations.

Can I see examples of your previous design work?

Yes, we have an extensive portfolio of our completed projects that we would be happy to share with you. You can also view some of our work on our website.

Do I need a landscape design for my project?

While not all projects require a full landscape design, it is highly recommended for larger or more complex projects. A good design will ensure a cohesive and well-planned outdoor space that meets your needs and enhances your property’s value.

What if I only have a small garden?

We work on projects of all sizes, from small courtyard gardens like this little suburban oasis to large-scale rural properties. Our design principles can be applied to any space to maximise its potential and create a beautiful and functional outdoor area.

Can you incorporate specific features into the design, like a vegetable garden or a play area for children?

Yes, we can incorporate any specific features you desire into the landscape design. We will work with you to ensure that the design is tailored to your lifestyle and preferences.

What is the difference between a landscape designer and a landscape architect?

Both roles focus on shaping outdoor spaces to be beautiful and functional. The main difference is that landscape architects usually have more formal training and can take on complex design or technical work, while landscape designers tend to focus on creative layouts, planting, and residential projects. At Parrot Landscaping, our team includes a Registered Master Landscape Architect and Registered Horticulturalist, so every project – from early concepts to detailed plans – benefits from both professional expertise and practical design experience.

How do you ensure the design will suit my home's architecture?

We take great care to ensure that our landscape designs complement the architectural style of your home. We consider the materials, colours, and overall aesthetic of your house to create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
